From the color of the gold, it reminded me of golden plastic. Then, had the idea of making a Gold Plastic Syndrome (or GPS) joke.
Don't know what GPS is? Gold Plastic Syndrome is a condition in toys that use this type of material to become very brittle and breaks easily. It was very commom in Transformers G2 series (for more info, go here: [link])
MLP:FiM created by Lauren Faust
MLP:FiM and Transformers owned by Hasbro (also Takara)
BUT I fixed it!

Rarity:My Little Sister Sweetie Belle lost her horn
Sweetie Belle:Yes i did with gold
Doctor:I can put the back on with surgery and at the end you get a gift
Rarity:How much is it
Rarity:We can't pay for that
doctor: wait you saved ponyvill from discord!!!! its free now
Oh Iforgeot one thing
*walk up to Sweetie Bell*
SweetieBell: "Rarity, I got that gold dust from Sugarcube Corner that you wanted. What's this stuff for anyway?"
Rarity: "Oh, I got a couple of strange clients recently that wanted edible..." <blushing> "uhh... Boots."
SweetieBell: "Edible boots?"
Rarity: "Yes. Emergency edible boots. Now go away, I don't want you seeing the... boots."
Except the whole "gold" thing didn't really apply; it happened to every color.
But it was always this one specific part: the socket piece for the ball and socket joints used in just about every joint on every figure.
I had a 2008 Kopaka set break. DURING FIRST ASSEMBLY.
I've noticed that the lime ones break way easier, though, but maybe that's just me. <
